1 How many products can I have
in my store and is it easy to update or add products myself?
The ecommerce solution we provide is best suited to online
shopping stores with between 10 and 10,000 product lines. These
can be arranged in sections and sub-sections, with an unlimited
number of levels.
If you already have a list of products in electronic format,
this data can be easily imported into the software we use to set
up your store. Alternatively, one can manually enter the information
via the Windows user interface.
Once you're familiar with the software used to update your own
store, entering product information is simple. All that is required
is to enter a part number and name, a description, price and VAT
treatment. You can also link an image file with the product, and
even put a hyperlink in the product description to a page of more
in-depth information. So its easy to get your online products
into your online store.

2 Can my online business offer a range
of choices for each product?
Yes, we can or you can configure attributes and choices for each
product in the online catalogue. For instance, you can have a
t-shirt that is available in both a range of sizes and a range
of colours. It is also possible to make each combination of choices
a different price.
You can associate product choices with other products in the
online catalogue. For example, a customer can assemble a PC online
by selecting from a variety of available components such as memory,
monitors and hard disk space. Your online business can offer many
online product configurations.

3 Will my credit card security
and store be secure?
Yes. The ecommerce software we use has 128-bit encryption
to safely encrypt credit card information. This means that only
the purchaser and you can read customers' credit card information.
You can process the credit card numbers in the normal way.
Barclays Bank, HSBC and the Royal Bank of Scotland approve the
software we use for their merchants to use.
Alternatively, our ecommerce solution can be integrated with
a secure server (SSL or Secure Socket Layer) or a number of Payment
Service Providers (who take credit card numbers securely and carry
out the transactions online). These include NetBanx, World Pay
and Datacash.

4 How do customers place orders on my
ecommerce web site?
Your customer service starts with your customers visiting
your ecommerce web site and browsing through the online catalogue.
If a customer sees a product they wish to purchase then they click
on the 'Add to Shopping Cart' button. The online catalogue then
registers which product this customer has selected and the customer
is shown an electronic 'shopping cart' that contains their product.
This shopping cart is carried with them while they are visiting
the site and it goes with them into the checkout. What more could
your customer service offer for easy shopping from your ecommerce
web site.

5 How can I keep an eye on stock control
levels? Do I need stock control software?

you to monitor each product line individually, warning you as
product levels run low and automatically suspending online ordering
when necessary. You are able to print off reports detailing stock
levels to help you with re-ordering stock items in plenty of time
to fulfil your orders. An ecommerce solution that is a stock control
software program within itself.

13 Will my ecommerce site be search engine
friendly?
Will my ecommerce site be search engine friendly?
The software we use to create your store differs from ecommerce
solutions which generate web pages on the fly from an underlying
database. Our solution builds on the concepts of generating the
entire ecommerce site on a PC, and then it’s uploaded to the web
in the form of static HTML pages. In this way all the text on
every page in the site, including product names and descriptions,
is made visible to the search engines.
What this means is that a web search for, say, Reebok trainers,
will find an one of our ecommerce sites which is selling them,
whereas a site based on a dynamic database is unlikely to show
up.
Unique meta tag descriptions and keywords can be easily entered
for every page on the site, making it easy to produce a search
engine friendly site without the risk of accidental spamming.
In addition to the home page links on every page, the inclusion
of contact information, and support for Alt tags for images, are
other features which are liked by search engines and directories.
Good ecommerce solutions such as ours provide support for them
all.

14 Are there any regulations I should
be aware of?
Business trading over the Internet could be trading illegally
if they are unaware of the rules for the sale of goods and services,
via a website, mobile phone or through email. The Department of
Trade and Industry has ecommerce regulations which affect businesses
with commercial website's.
The Electronic Communications Act (2000)
The main purpose of the Act is to help build confidence in electronic
communications by creating a legal framework for electronic commerce,
both in the private and public sectors. It:
clarifies the legal status of electronic signatures
gives the Government powers to modernise outdated legislation
so that the option of electronic communication and storage can
be offered as an alternative to paper
provides a fallback to self-regulatory schemes that will ensure
the quality of electronic signature and other cryptography support
services
EC Electronic Commerce Directive (2000)
The aim of the EC Electronic Commerce Directive (00/31/EC) is
to ensure that electronic commerce is as unrestricted within the
EU as other types of commerce.
The Directive was incorporated into UK law through the Electronic
Commerce Directive Regulations (2002). The DTI has published online
guidance for businesses available in the Content Summary of A
Guide for Business to The Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations
(2002) and a special guide for small businesses', available from
the link below.

15 How do you create my ecommerce store?
We create your store using software that is specially
designed for building an ecommerce store. We use this software
because it provides us with a set of pre-programmed settings that
would normally take hours to input and build. That's why we are
able to provide an ecommerce solution at a fraction of the cost
of those who build from scratch. Furthermore, we use this type
of ecommerce solution because we want to ensure that you have
the option of updating your own store and managing your orders
easily. That's why we provide additional software modules for
you to use to get either job done. Each module offers all the
features for managing your store and with an easy to use interface
and built-in security it provides a cost-effective solution.

16 What other services should I take
in to consideration when planning my ecommerce shopping cart solution
budget?
Getting customers to your site will not be an overnight
success and you must try your hardest to keep that customer once
'you've got them in the door'. One way you can do this is by providing
additional services and promotions and the most effective way
is through the provision of a free regular email newsletter. If
planned effectively this can keep the customer interested, updated
and provide you with a great sales opportunity. See our ‘Email’
section for more info.
Another important aspect is marketing your site and this is achieved
through the submission of your site to search engines. Standard
submissions are made as part of our service but to ensure complete
exposure you should highly consider paying for a more formal submission
service. There are many online companies who provide such a service
and ADK is one of them. See our ‘Marketing’ section for more info.
Online directories are also a good source for web site exposure
and getting listed in these can be beneficial. Especially, with
those that invest in being ranked with major search engines such
as Google and Yahoo. There may also be a range of regional and
local directories that offer directory listing and these too could
bring you more custom. Some of these directories are free and
some charge a yearly fee for your listing.
At an extra cost ADK provides an exclusive service for researching
directories associated with your particular trade, profession,
supply chain, region, and locality and either provide the research
list for you to make your own submissions or you can employ us
to submit your details for you. See our ‘Marketing’ section for
more info.
