Structuring your online product catalogue is important because it
forms the basis for navigating your store. So here are some general
merchandising tips to help you with your online catalogue design.
Describe Your Products Creatively - Be creative when it comes
to describing your product. Choose a name that says something
about the product and add words that make the product appear special.
For example:
Product Name: Describe a kitchen broom as "a state-of-the-art,
comfort-sized Super Clean-Up Utility Broom made of quality fibreglass
with reinforced anti-static cleaning bristles."
In the Summary field, add more information about the product's
benefits and features.
Summary: This high performance comfort-sized Super Clean-up Utility
Broom is excellent for the quick tidy up. It's made of durable,
quality fibreglass, with anti-static cleaning bristles for extra
strength. Ideal for all surfaces and works wonders when brushing
that prized natural stone or tiled floor. Comes in two sections
and fits conveniently together. Create a Pre-bundled Groups -
Group products you think people might want to purchase together
at one time. Selling pre-bundled groups will increase your online
catalog sales.
When grouping different items together as one product, do the
following:
Select a pre-bundled group of products that complement one another.
Designate a unique order number for the product group so it can
be sold as a single package or finished good. Create a sense of
value with the price of the product group and mention this price
value in the Summary field. Add associated product words in the
Keywords field so that your chances increase for your product
to surface during a product search.
